In this Simple-ESL podcast lesson, you’ll learn how to talk about your weekend and other recent events in clear, natural English. You’ll practise using the past simple and past continuous, plus WHEN and WHILE, so you can tell better stories about what happened.
In this video we will:
• Listen to a short weekend dialogue and notice how past simple and past continuous work together.
• Learn useful weekend vocabulary like relaxed, went out, stayed in, visited and more.
• Practise grammar patterns such as “I was walking to the café when it started raining” and “I was cooking while he was cleaning.”
• Answer speaking questions about what you did last weekend and describe unexpected events.
• Complete a short quiz and a homework challenge to write 6–8 sentences about your own weekend.
This lesson is ideal for ESL learners who want to sound more confident and natural when talking about their weekends, recent events, and short stories from real life.
