When it comes to understanding a player’s true hitting power, few stats are more important than slugging percentage—aka SLG.
Unlike batting average, SLG measures total bases per at-bat, giving more weight to doubles, triples, and home runs. It tells you not just if a player is hitting—but how hard.
📊 SLG = Total Bases ÷ At-Bats
⚾ Singles count for 1, homers count for 4
Want to know who’s doing real damage at the plate? Look at their slugging.
And yes—Babe Ruth’s career SLG of .689 is still the gold standard.
