A beautiful and somewhat cloudy day for this hike to Blackrock. It's about 5 miles round trip, but rooty and rocky in places with elevation ups and downs, making it a workout for the average hiker. We enjoyed the shadowy evergreen forest sections with rocks and lush plant life, as well as the open areas grown up with blackberry and angelica that buzzed with bumblebees. The trailhead is near the picturesque Waterrock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
