When it comes to getting rid of the London Taxi trade it fails to answer one simple question, Who will you give the badges to?
Currently it is a merit based system anyone with the dedication and talent can earn a badge.
Take that away and you create a financial or straight forward queueing system.
Paying for a badge is a terrible idea and so is the queueing system. The merit system is by far and away the fairest and most favourable system to have. Technology pays no part in the system of giving badges.
The technology could be astounding and still not solve who should and shouldn’t get a badge.
