The winner of the 2025 RDS Emerging Award is HaPPE Earth, Co. Dublin

‘HaPPE Earth,’ which stands for Health, Agriculture & PPE, has a vision to reduce the global production and consumption of single use plastics in the healthcare sector through bio-resin innovation in agriculture.

Founded in 2022 by Dr. Mary O’Riordan and Lisa O’Riordan in response to the plastic waste crisis, they aim to revolutionise the use of PPE using medicalised bio-digestors to convert HaPPE single use compostable PPE and hospital food waste into a locally produced, sustainable and compostable single use PPE. This circular approach reduces plastic waste and creates a scalable supply chain for critical medical equipment.

The RDS Circular Economy Programme in collaboration with Trinity Executive Education, celebrates and supports Irish businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators who are driving meaningful solutions to the climate crisis.
This initiative aims to bring circular models to the forefront of public and industry attention, inspiring a new generation of innovation leaders and empowering consumers to choose products designed with circular principles in mind.
