The Devil's advice on unfriending your ex on Facebook:

It's a complicated question. I guess it really depends on the situation. If it was an ugly break up, then at least one person probably got their ego bruised. And there's nothing worse for broken egos than access to Facebook. Especially not with a news feed that might still be read by the ex.

It's way too tempting to use Facebook to show somebody up. And so that usually means: passive-aggressive posting of song lyrics; half-naked selfies; and pictures of yourself making out with somebody new. 80% of Facebook posts are already just people trying to look like they're having fun without their ex. So, unless you dated for less than a two weeks and nobody on earth gives a shit, then unfriend the ex, make your Facebook private, and cut out all the emotional propaganda.

Save that for your profile picture and the cover photo; there's always a lot you can do there.
