This is my HK Models 1/48 scale B-17 build. I’ve installed working props and made it into a visual display. I describe the weathering and motor install process in this video/pictorial build video.
Motors used: Bought from Ebay. 6mm diameter, 12mm long 3.7vdc rated at 65,000rpm
Nylon gear: Bought from Ebay. 8 tooth, 0.8mm shaft
Pre-shading paint used: SMS paints. Light stone (and neutral grey acrylic lacquers. Camo Black (FS37038) for panel lines.
Upper fuselage: US Olive Drab (FS33070)
Acrylic rod: 10mm diameter clear acrylic rod @ 500mm length. Cut to size for height required.
Project took a lazy 4 months. October 24 to Jan 25.
Next project. Either a 24th scale diving Stuka (motorised) or a 72nd scale B-29 (motorised) dropping the Little Boy.
