10:30 a.m. - Departing Husøy, on the island of Senja, we motor along the fjord pecking at our snouts, directly from the Atlantic, waves of two meters abundant.
12 noon - Out of the fjord, course for Sommarøy, an 'all out' the islands that seems, but is a pious illusion, less fraught with submerged dangers: narrow passages between an untold number of rocks marked by green and red 'sticks'; how these sticks can be thought of as signal buoys and be seen in stormy conditions escapes me. Scarce wind, so we suffer the increasingly important waves that then break on the rocks all around. Sun and clouds. Atmospheric pressure 1002 mb
1 p.m. - we pass north of Edøya staying out in the Atlantic Ocean. Exciting passages and landscapes
2:30 pm - we drift moor for current in the channel before the bridge. Small Marina with facilities and laundry. Supermarket and gas station nearby.
Night with aurora. We are joined for dinner by Christian, local photographer and guide, who tells us about typical tourism in these areas. I realize that I have a unique opportunity to see the real Norway, without mass tourism, crowds and crappy storytelling.
