I delved into Şirin’s collection of Turkish Music to select this beautiful waltz which pays homage to an era in Turkish history when a taste for Western musical styles was developed in the late Ottoman era. There are many more wonderful pieces to explore in this collection from early works from the Turco-Ottoman repertoire, traditional songs of Anatolia called türkü, and original music like this piece!
