The Philippine Garrison is a unit of the 501st Legion, an international organization of Star Wars fans who wear the costumes of the bad guys, all for a good cause.
The Philippine Garrison is the local representative of the 501st Legion, with almost 100 members. The third-largest garrison in Asia, our troopers are regulars at the annual Philippine Toy-Con, Asia Pop Comic Con, Manila International Book Fair.
Some of our members participated in historic events such as the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade, the recent Hong Kong Star Wars Parade, and multiple Star Wars Celebration events. Since 2014, we have organized the annual Star Wars Reads Day to promote reading among kids.
=====
Sinulog Festival:
Sinulog is an annual festival in Cebu City on the third Sunday of January, and is one of the most prominent fetivals in the Philippines. It is a religious and cultural festivity marked by street dancing, feasts, and parades.
Sinulog comes from the Cebuano word “sulog” which means “like water current movement” which depicts the forward-backward step of Sinulog dance, most visible during the grand parade.
While also a Catholic celebration, other religions, and sects join in on the festivities, making the celebration accessible to all.
You may hear a greeting of "Pit Señor" during Sinulog.
Star Wars Day:
"May the 4th be with you." What started as a pun warmly shared by fans has become a full-fledged Star Wars holiday: Star Wars Day, a special once-a-year celebration of the galaxy far, far away. One of the earliest known records of “May the 4th” used in popular culture is in 1979, as described here by author Alan Arnold while he was chronicling the making of The Empire Strikes Back
