This is a high-quality grand piano but unfortunately has considerable moth damage and also needs a full repolish. However, the tuning pins are tight, the strings all there and with excellent tone. The hammers are good; they need refacing and voicing and the action needs fine regulation.
Bearing in mind the interesting history of the piano and videos of various people playing it (type "Oxford Union performance" into a video search) . We have already treated the moth and will, of course, refine the touch and tone. The piano will have a guarantee of ten years.
NOTE:
The tied action not only reduced friction points but also helps the hammer to return more rapidly; it was thought that this would improve repetition. However, it's far more time-consuming to regulate so when we fully restored these we usually replace the tied action with a normal roller one.
