158F: Railhouse Rock - 2026 Elvis Festival Trains (07-12/01/26)

During the second week of January, NSW Trainlink and ‪@lachlanvalleyrailway3381‬ operated trains between Sydney and the Parkes Elvis Festival, a celebration of all things Presley.
NSW Trainlink ran their annual "Elvis Express" XPT, whilst LVR teamed up with ‪@vintagerailjourneys3000‬ to operate the "Elvis Festival Rail Tour".
Both trains are seen three or four times throughout this short film.

January on the Great Western means the Parkes Elvis Festival gets underway once again and so do the trains to transport The King's fans there from Sydney! This year, we had two: The Elvis Express XPT ran once again, giving us the annual sight of XPTs between Orange and Parkes, but LVR returned to the scene after a couple of years absence. This year, they teamed up with Vintage Rail Journeys to operate the "Elvis Festival Rail Tour", using three 47 class engines to haul the Aurora Australis.

Across four incredibly warm days (heatwave warnings have been present throughout the Central West for nearly all of January so far), we see the trains seven times on both legs of both their journeys, split between them at a ratio of 4:3. I was careful with the XPT shots not to replicate    • 158F: Little Less Conversation Little More...   (even though we do visit Blackheath), whilst a shot on the Broken Hill Line was an absolute must. As for the EFRT, I had to fit this in around work, but I nonetheless captured it a few times too. You can tell it was a hot few days - all three 47s have their cooling vents wide open!
