India’s Mk-II(A) Laser-Directed Energy Weapon !

On April 13, India successfully conducted a test of its first high-energy laser weapon, the Mk-II(A) Laser-Directed Energy Weapon (DEW), at the National Open Air Range in Kurnool, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the 30-kilowatt laser system is capable of disabling aerial threats at distances of up to 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).
Operating at the speed of light, the weapon offers a highly cost-effective alternative to conventional ammunition. This successful test marks a significant milestone, positioning India among the few nations with operational directed-energy weapon capabilities.
Till now only US, China, Russia & Israel has demonstrated this kind of technology.
