Tearnzer Wielen is a lake located in the southwest part of Leeuwarden. New neighborhoods – Teerns, Hempens and Zuiderburen were developed around this lake. Even with the development, nature has been untouched with beautiful flat landscapes and clear water bodies that are home to various species of birds.
This lake is known for the summer activities like sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, swimming, and fishing. During peak winter months, the frozen lake is a haven for ice skaters.
