BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur has criticized PDP leader Iltija Mufti's tweet, calling it "shameful" and "anti-national". Mufti had termed India a "Lynchistan" after a 19-year-old West Bengali was lynched in Odisha thinking he was a Bangladeshi.
"Iltija Mufti's tweet is surprising, but not unexpected from PDP, which has always had a pro-Pakistan policy," Thakur said. "Pakistan has never shied away from defaming India's institutions, and PDP is following suit."
Thakur questioned PDP's selective outrage, saying, "When PDP appeals for votes, they claim to represent all communities. But to revive their party, they cherry-pick issues. What about women being burnt alive in Bangladesh? Hindu houses being torched? They're silent on these issues."
"We condemn this incident. Under PM's leadership, we won't tolerate such acts. But Iltija's tweet instigates minorities instead of appealing for peace."
Thakur also highlighted Kashmir's own lynching incident, saying, "DSP Ayub Pandit was lynched in Kashmir on Shab-e-Qadr. How will you justify that?"
