Track 7 from their fifth album "Flying Colors" released in 1979 copyright MCA Records. Randy Bachman had produced their first four albums but this one was produced by Howard Steele. It featured guest appearances by keyboardist Steve Porcaro and guitarist Steve Lukather from the band Toto as well as session drummer Joe Lala and bassist Harold Cowart. Though not one of their strongest releases, the single "Janine" would go on to become their best-selling single. Keyboardist Frank Ludwig wrote "Back to You" and co-wrote "Quiet Desperation" and "Mr. Big" with Tommy Stewart and Doni Underhill. The album received lackluster reviews but was still certified Platinum in Canada. The band went on to release four more albums in the Eighties without much success. She's sittin' on the corner of her bed
In a small rented room in Montreal
Long curly hair, hands between her knees
With her head hung down
She hasn't said a word since mornin' (hasn't said a word)
Don't understand (don't understand)
She talks like a little bird
Today she hasn't made a sound
Janine (Janine, Janine)
Janine
Talk to me
Janine
Don't even know if she's listenin' to me
I might be talkin' to myself hopelessly
While she looks right through me
Like I'm not even here
If only there was somethin' I could say
To make her believe it's gonna be okay
There's just no way
She'll ever have to live alone
Janine (Janine, Janine)
Janine
Believe in me (Janine) oh, oh-oh-oh
Janine (Janine, Janine)
Ooh, Janine
Believe in me (Janine)
Janine, don't you see that it (doesn't really matter)
What anybody says, what anybody does
I'll still love you (I'll still love you)
And if the world's gettin' harder and harder
To understand and you need a hand
I'll be there when you need me (I'll be there)
I'm gonna be (there when you need me)
Janine (Janine, Janine)
Janine
You're not alone (Janine)
Janine (Janine, Janine) oh, Janine
You're not alone (Janine)
(Janine)
(Janine)
