Narcissistic emotional abuse robs you of yourself over time. The longer you are in a relationship with a controlling narcissistic abuser the less likely you are to feel confident about successfully moving on with your life. You've likely been told that no one will ever love you like he/she did, that you are useless, that you live in "lala land", that you are stupid, ugly, fat, etc. After a while you loose contact with the wonderful aspects of you that make you YOU! I promise you that YOU are still in there and if you do the work to strip away the toxic muck you've been wading through, you will be amazed at what you find. If you feel totally isolated, have lost contact with friends and family etc. you simply need to begin where you are! Small steps will become big strides and before you know it you will be leaping into a life that looks more like what you imagined for yourself. Set a small goal...ask yourself on a scale of one to ten how likely it is that you will follow through (anything less than a 5 means the goal is too grand for right now, adjust it, make it reasonable so that you are 70-100% sure you will follow through.
