In this video, I’ve explained Freedom To The Slave by H. L. V Derozio. The video can be divided into three parts. In the first part Summary of Freedom To The Slave has been discussed. In the next part, I’ve discussed the theme of Freedom To The Slave theme.
Freedom To The Slave by H. L. V Derozio is about the emancipation of a slave from bondage. The slave is exalted and his heart beats in excitement. He does not need to kneel to anyone. He feels alive again. He looks above at the sky and feels the fresh wind. He compares his state of freedom with the elements of nature; wind, wild birds, and stream. He exclaims with a tear of happiness, “I’m free as they!”
In the second stanza, Derozio addresses Freedom, and freedom is personified. He says there is the freedom that keeps igniting the everlasting flame of the soul. Freedom also makes the patriots and brave men fight. It is for the freedom, a generous man sets a slave free.
