Our Mike Leigh in Conversation season continues with a screening of Life Is Sweet (1990). Following the screening, the acclaimed director was joined on stage by friend and collaborator Gary Yershon to discuss the film with the audience.
Life is Sweet is an intimate portrait of a working-class family in a suburb just north of London. Leigh and his typically brilliant cast create, with extraordinary sensitivity and craft, a vivid lived-in story of ordinary existence, in which even modest dreams carry enormous weight.
