This is an original Indestructible phonograph cylinder, number 1224, featuring "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful," performed by Quartette and released in December 1909. This black wax Christmas cylinder record is played on an Edison Standard cylinder phonograph (circa 1905).
Indestructible cylinders were manufactured independently and marketed as a more durable alternative to standard wax cylinders. This recording preserves the sound and performance style exactly as audiences would have heard it over 115 years ago.
