California Lobster Season Opens with a Wild Spearfishing Cookout

The Wild Caught crew kicks off the start of California’s spiny lobster season with an epic dive and beach cookout. We head to one of our favorite local spots on opening day to spearfish for lobsters, scallops, sea urchins, and California sheepshead—everything we need for an unforgettable coastal feast.

With perfect conditions and the season just beginning, the underwater action is nonstop. We dive into the kelp forests and rocky reefs, carefully harvesting spiny lobsters, fresh scallops, and wild sea urchins, while also landing a few California sheepshead to round out the catch.

After a successful dive, we head back to the beach for a catch and cook BBQ, grilling everything over an open campfire with friends. This is what it means to live off the land and ocean—harvesting food with intention and sharing it together under the open sky.
