Mt Marcy and Tabletop Mt Winter Hike

Not an easy choice, but I decided to do a sunrise hike up Mt Marcy in winter. I left home at 11:00 PM and got to the Loj to start my hike at 1:00 AM. An especially good night because a lunar eclipse was also happening on this clear night. It took a lot of willpower to keep going and not talk myself out of doing it, as it was cold, dark and a little windy. I just kept puting off the negative thoughts until I was so far into the hike that it didn't make sense to back out of it. My efforts paid off and it was a great hike with an amazing eclipse and sunrise. I added on Tabletop Mt on my way back and was going to summit Phelps Mt too, but I was pretty much out of energy for a third mountain by the time I reached the spur trail to Phelps, so I left it for another day. I probably won't do this sunrise hike again in winter, but who knows? With wandering around, taking pictures and videos, and enjoying the day and scenery, it took mt 12 1/2 hours and roughly 18 miles. A long but rewarding day that I won't forget!
