This video discusses how to determine the friction factor for a "smooth" pipe that is described using Von Karman's equation using iteration given the Reynold's number. Von Karman's equation has the friction factor f inside and outside a logarithm, so there is no exact closed form solution for f. The equation can be easily solved by guessing a value in the typical range and then using the equation to get an updated value repeatedly until the initial guess is sufficiently close to the new estimate.
