On October 4, 2024, University of Toledo Police Officer Barbee observed a vehicle strike a curb, which caused the right front tire to blow. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 21-year-old woman. The woman admitted to coming from Jake's Saloon and Sports Pub in Toledo, where she claimed she consumed alcohol. She was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was transported to the University of Toledo police station, where she submitted to a breath alcohol test. The result was 0.16% BAC.
