Louis-Claude Daquin (1694-1772) was a French organ and harpsichord virtuoso. He is well known today for his twelve variations on old French carols (noëls). Of the variations contained in Daquin's "Nouveau livre de noëls", Noël Suisse (The Swiss Noel) is one of the best loved and most familiar. It is heard worldwide during Christmas services and organ holiday concerts. Noël Suisse is based on a carol called “Il est un petit l’Ange” and it tells of an angel visiting a Swiss boy telling him to go and find the Christ child.
The Hauptwerk sample set used is the 1885 Aristide Cavaille-Coll organ found in the cathedral at Caen, France. It is sampled by Sonus Paradisi.
