This LOOK Is Only Temporary - Milling A 25 Foot Log Into A LEDGER BOARD For Our Covered Porch

In this video, Greg picks out a 25 foot log to mill on our 23 foot Woodland Mills HM130 Max Sawmill and then turns it into a ledger board for our porch! It definitely looks a little odd up on the barndominium, but before we know it we'll be working on the porch!

We are building our barndominium - barn house out of wood that we are milling on our own sawmill. If you haven't followed along with our BARN Build, (which is now our barn house build) make sure to check out that series in our playlists. We finished the first slab summer of '23, we milled most of the timbers needed over this past winter/spring, added plumbing, put in a second slab for our garage and now we have started building our barndominium - barnhouse - lodge - our home, with 8 bents going up being the first step in our excitement! After, we secured the bents, we added girts, SIPs, finished the standing seam metal roof, installed our huge, direct set window, installed the doors, the garage doors, framed the outside walls and installed the windows on the first floor, completed the subfloor upstairs, framing the second story walls for windows, installed the windows, completed framing of the interior walls on the second floor, framed a 60 foot wall on the first floor of our barndominium, finished rough in framing for the plumber, framed the mudroom, the pantry and the beginnings of the fireplace. We have now completed the septic system install, including the leach field. We are now focused on electrical, board and batten and milling and more milling!

***We are also so excited to have completed our sawmill cover enclosure (sawmill shed). Definitely check out our Sawmill Playlist to watch it all happen. We have shared the process of building our sawmill cover from the very beginning. We have a Woodland Mills HM130 Max sawmill and we live in North Idaho. The sawmill cover / sawmill shed is vital to continue milling for our barn build in the winter months, but it will also be a great way to keep out of the sun during the summer months, and of course all of the rain, in between!

4 posts in the back
Overall dimensions are 15 feet wide by 36 feet long
Longest beam is 28 feet
Front part of the lean to roof is 11'9" and back is 8'
It will have a 3 :12 pitch
Posts and beams are going to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"
