This video was filmed on September 4th, 2021. In this video I visit The Italian Market which’s located on S. 9th St. in South Philadelphia, Pa. The Italian Market began in the mid-to-late 1880’s when Italian immigrant Antonio Palumbo started a boarding house in the neighborhood for other Italians. Businesses sprang up afterwards to serve the growing community. Alien market is America’s oldest continuously operating outdoor market edit in the Passyunk Square community of South Philadelphia. Italian market is a collection of nearly 200 businesses situated between two public parks and two beautiful churches. The market, which spans approximately 10 blocks, features curb carts, grocery shops, cafés, restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, butcher shops and more. Enjoy!
