Maintenance KPI - Percentage of Proactive and Reactive Work Hours Completed

In this video, I'll explain how to use Power BI to calculate the percentage of proactive work completed in a period.

Once I've covered how to create the calculation for the percentage of proactive maintenance hours I'll then take you through how I created a dashboard to display this KPI.

I'll talk you step-by-step through my thinking process in deciding how I laid out the dashboard page and the formatting I used for each visual and why.

This maintenance KPI is important because it helps the maintenance management team understand the balance of activity the maintenance team is working on.

If they are working on proactive work activities then they are focusing on activities designed to prevent equipment from failing or detect impending failures early. This means they can do something about these issues before they become severe and result in an impact on the business.

If the balance is more toward reactive activity then they are busy fixing failures rather than proactively working to prevent them from happening in the first place!
