Just a bit of fun… Do I sound like Brian, or does Brian sound like me? 😉
So last week, Matt Netherwood dropped me a message asking I had a spare guitar to put some new Yonderbosk pickups in. At first I said I’d install them into my BMG but we agree’d that it would probably make more sense to install them into a more authentic RS replica to get a more ‘true’ result. Into the Super they went!
I’m sure Matt will explain what the differences are either in the comment section below or make a post of his own with the changes made, but the main reason for the V.2 design was to make the pickups slightly brighter (as per what we heard when Brian played his original RS at the meet-up a few weeks back.
I (and a few others) did think the original had some kind of extra sweetness and brightness to it, and I do think these new YB pickups give me that extra bit of sweetness and brightness.
When Brian is playing at lower levels, it has a more mellow sound (many things could be the reason for this) whereas listen to my demo, it is a touch brighter, and I personally believe this could be partly down to the fact i’m using brand new strings?
Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the video attached?
I really love these new pickups! They are definitely staying!
