Today I bring you a very complete test of the Skoda Scala 2024, a compact that has received a facelift and some interesting improvements. Is it enough to compete against giants like the SEAT Leon or the Citroën C4? And, most importantly, is it worth what it costs? Stay, I'll tell you everything.

Renewed design: A subtle change or enough?
At first glance, the Škoda Scala 2024 does not break molds, but it does introduce details that give it a more modern look. The front is where the improvements are most noticeable: a redesigned grille, more stylized headlights (which can be LED matrix in high finishes) and a bumper with more marked lines. At the back, the changes are more discreet: the taillights maintain the shape, but the internal design is different, and the tailgate debuts a more modern typography.
If you're looking for a compact that won't go out of style in a couple of years, this restyling may be just what you need.

Interior: small details that make a difference
Inside, Škoda has opted for practicality. There are new physical buttons to adjust the intensity of the climate control, something that many of us missed in the previous model. This way you don't have to fight with the screen while driving, which is a plus for safety.
The standard instrumentation is digital, with an 8-inch screen, but if you want something more "pro", you can equip a 10.25-inch panel and a 9.2 multimedia screen. However, it is curious that the panel can be larger than the central screen. In any case, all include wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Materials? More sustainable and with better finishes in general. It is not a radical change, but enough to be noticed.

Interior space and trunk: the king of practicality
If something stands out in the Scala, it is its spacious interior. The rear seats offer plenty of leg and head comfort, although, as is often the case, width is not its strong point: three adults will travel a bit tight.
The boot, on the other hand, is one of the largest in its category, with 467 litres. To give you an idea, it surpasses the Volkswagen Golf, the Mazda 3 and even the Ford Focus. In addition, it includes hands-free opening, although it does not always work as it should.

Engines: three options and proven technology
The range of engines for the 2024 Scala is simple but effective, with three petrol options:
1.0 TSI 95 hp: basic and functional, perfect for the city.
1.0 TSI 116 hp: more balanced, ideal if you are looking for good consumption with a little more power.
1.5 TSI 150 hp: the most powerful, with cylinder deactivation to save fuel when you do not need all the power.
These engines use technologies such as the Miller cycle and variable geometry turbos, something that we previously only saw in high-end sports cars. Of course, there is no hybrid version, so they all carry the DGT C badge.

Is the 2024 Skoda Scala a good buy?
With a starting price of 21,500 euros, the Scala is a very competitive option compared to models such as the Citroën C4 Hybrid or the SEAT León. If you are looking for a practical, well-equipped compact with a large trunk, this car more than meets the requirements. Of course, remember that its platform, the MQB A0, is simpler than that of a Golf, which is noticeable in the width and some details of refinement.
In short, the 2024 Skoda Scala is not a revolutionary car, but it knows how to play its cards well. Space, practicality and enough technology for a reasonable price. What do you think?
