Dave bought what might just be the cheapest Defender 90 in the country – a rough-and-ready example picked up for just £3000. It’s now getting a second life as a hardworking farm truck for his new smallholding.
In this video, we kick off the rebuild:
• A look at the chassis, now sandblasted and repainted
• Introduction to the new heart of the build — a BMW M57 engine pulled from a BMW X5
• Dave walks through the process of prepping and bolting up key components before mounting the engine into the Defender
The original Puma engine was already removed before the chassis work, and now the focus is on creating a strong, simple, and reliable truck powered by the legendary M57.
