Cloggity

Tag along with me on my journey as an unwitting volunteer clogging instructor.

As someone whose life was profoundly changed by a traumatic brain injury, I would not have predicted that I would be teaching others traditional percussive dance. In addition to being good exercise, dance is a mindfulness practice, and the Old-Time music and rhythm of Appalachian clogging provide a deep feeling of connectivity, community, and healing.

My tutorials and Clog-Alongs primarily focus on Appalachian clogging and flatfooting, but other styles of traditional percussive dance are fair game, including English and Canadian step dancing, Waltz Clogs, old-style Irish and Sean Nos, and Marley dances from the Vaudeville era. The foundational step of many of these styles is the Shuffle.
