My name is Owen Ala. I was born and raised on a homestead near Soldotna, Alaska. My grandparents moved to Alaska in the 1930’s. I grew up working on the farm and commercial fishing with my grandfather. Professionally I am an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, upper extremity, and micro vascular surgery (Orthopedic Physicians Alaska). I went to medical school at Cornell and did my fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. My parents still work full time on the homestead near Soldotna and put me to work every time I’m at the farm. I love it there.
I love Alaska and I love education and learning. I want my channel to fulfill a couple of goals. I want to provide useful information that can help other people safely and successfully access seldom visited places in Alaska. I want to show how amazing it can be to explore places way off the beaten path. Lastly, I am working to produce quality film to show how magical it is in Alaska.
