IPA-USA
Founded in 1973, The American Association for Promoting the Child’s Right to Play became the USA Affiliate (IPA USA) of the International Play Association (IPAWORLD.ORG), an interdisciplinary non-governmental organization providing advocacy for the promotion of play opportunities.
IPA USA is part of a global network dedicated to promoting the child’s right to play. Our work is guided by Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). To fulfill this, IPA USA’s Board has developed a Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles that support our advocacy efforts.
Membership is open to any individual, group, or organization which endorses the United Nations’ Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959), especially Article 7, paragraph 3, which states:
“The child shall have full opportunity for play and recreation which should be directed to the same purposes as education; society and the public authorities shall endeavor to promote the enjoyment of this rig
