I am British and I model in O gauge. I first started as a model collector. Anything:- cars, trucks, buses, bikes, boats, trains, aircraft, spacecraft, but I kept to one scale, 1:43. It is very difficult to keep to one scale if you want a model of anything. I then discovered O gauge was 1:43 scale and then got into railway modelling .... BUT .... I was very disappointed to discover that American O gauge was different, 1:48 scale. I am therefore in the process of making 1:43 scale American railroad stock, but I do collect 1:48 scale American in order to join in with the American O gauge scene here in the UK, but I always keep them separate.

My view on modelling is that if you make a model move, it is obvious to me that that movement should be modelled movement, and it should be incapable of sudden toy movement. Hence I am a great believer that all models should have flywheels, and flywheels bigger than their motors.
