John Finbury

John Finbury is a Grammy- nominated composer and pianist from Andover, Massachusetts. In 2019 his album "Sorte! featuring Thalma de Freitas was nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz album. and in 2016 his song "A Chama Verde" received a Latin Grammy nomination for "Song Of The Year." In high school, John started on drums and played in the rock band “Ten Foot Clearance”. This band later performed at “The Bitter End” in New York City. On to college, John studied classical piano at the prestigious Longy School of Music in Cambridge and Boston University. His musical idols include Bill Evans, Monk, Jobim, and Tim Ray. In Salem Massachusetts, John ran a legendary movie house and concert hall, where BB King, Bonnie Raitt, Richard Thompson, REM, Eric Burton and The Animals, and Pat Metheny all performed.
