Rubble to Roses

We moved from a garden full of wildlife to a bare new build plot — nothing but clay and rubble. This isn’t my day job, but over the past 20 years I’ve built up plenty of DIY skills — and now I’m putting them to the test. Watch me transform this space from rubble to roses. I want to show you what’s possible with a bit of planning, some hard graft and a lot of passion. I’m creating a garden for wildlife and for us. Over this series, I`ll be
• Installing French Drains to tackle the heavy clay and waterlogging
• Building a raised deck and modern pergola - creating a stylish space to relax and enjoy
• Digging a wildlife pond (complete with bridge) to attract wildlife
• Raising the level of the garden with sleepers to improve drainage & create structure
• Laying a gravel path to connect each area
• Planting a flowering lawn to provide food for pollinators
