Not That Kinda Christian

I devoted a decade to formal theological training in the evangelical tradition, earned multiple degrees in theology, and taught for decades in evangelical churches. Over the years, I became increasingly disturbed that what I was seeing in American Evangelicalism seemed further and further from the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament. I've reconstructed my faith seeking to honestly answer the tough questions of life and faith without chaining myself to a specific denomination, school of theology, or political agenda. I still don't have all the answers. I know I'm not right about everything, but this is my honest effort to find truth while loving God and striving to learn to love my neighbor as myself.

After many trials and tribulations; after being burned by religious people many times; and after discovering that many of my beliefs couldn't stand up to scrutiny, I'm still a Christian. I'm just not that kinda Christian.
