Roy Howard Community Journalism Center
The RHCJC is a place where stories come to life, voices are amplified, and the future of journalism is built. Based at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus, with satellite hubs at the Long Beach campus and in the capital city of Jackson, the RHCJC is on a mission to transform news across south Mississippi.
We're not just telling stories—we're filling the gaps. Our students, alongside professional journalists, produce dynamic content for radio, print, and broadcast, serving more than 100 partner organizations statewide. With a focus on media literacy, outreach, and innovation projects like social media campaigns, podcasts, and web development, we empower aspiring journalists to make a real impact.
Covering 10 counties from Hattiesburg to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the RHCJC gives students the chance to elevate their skills, explore new media, and tell the stories that matter. Join us in the journey of shaping the future of journalism.
