Mule Skinner Mining
Welcome to my personal archive of videos filmed while I worked underground at the Original Sixteen to One Mine in Alleghany, California – America’s oldest operating gold mine and producer of some of the world’s finest crystalline gold specimens.
⚠️ This is NOT an official channel of the Original Sixteen to One Mine. These are my own recordings made as an employee; they do not represent the mine, its owners, or current operations.
The name “Sixteen to One” comes from the historic bimetallic ratio set by Portugal in 1688 and adopted by the U.S. in 1792: 16 ounces of silver equaled the value of 1 ounce of gold.
If you enjoy real hard-rock mining, pocket gold, quartz crystals, and life underground.
