Flint Stryker

Hi! My name's Brad. I was an engineering professor (Ph.D., VA Tech, 1991) for 33+ years, although I worked in central administration for my last 14 years. I'm a natural-born skeptic and nonstop tinkerer. I like to learn how things work, then make them better, faster, more efficient.

One of my passions is Scouting. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster, a Brotherhood member of the OA and a Minisino Firecrafter. I am a graduate of both the Wood Badge (Fox) and Buckskin (Miami Valley Council) programs. In 2019 I served as a Troop Guide for Wood Badge course C6-444-19 (our Centennial year course). I earned the Buckskin Thunderbuck award in 2020.

In scouting we teach new skills using the EDGE method: Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, Enable. My firemaking and knots videos are principally for the scouts in my troop but I hope they are useful/interesting to all who watch them. I'm clearly not an expert in most cases, but I have tried to cover the Explain and Demonstrate parts as well as I can. Thanks!
