Researchers created a new type of AI assistant designed to help engineers make better charts and graphs from complex computer simulations. In many companies, only a few experts know exactly how to turn this complicated data into useful pictures, which causes delays when those experts are unavailable. To fix this problem, the study team interviewed human experts to learn their specific rules and design tips, such as how to properly draw lines to show if a test finished correctly. They programmed these expert rules into an AI system that uses a Large Language Model to write computer code. When they tested the system, they found that beginners using the new AI tool could produce work that was just as good as a human expert's work. The results showed that this method improved the quality of the charts by over 200 percent compared to using a standard AI, proving that teaching computers specific human rules can help non-experts do complex jobs.
