With new changes implemented in 2024 to the property transfer tax exemptions, we thought it would be helpful to create a new video explaining these changes and breakdown the different exemptions.

When buying a home in BC, property transfer tax is an important closing cost to consider. In this video, Mariko talks about property transfer tax exemptions that may be applicable to you when buying real estate properties in British Columbia. There are two main exemptions that are important for you to know about when buying real estate in the Vancouver area:
First Time Home Buyer Property Transfer Tax Exemption for Resale Properties
Newly Built Home Exemption for Presale Properties (PTT Exemption)

Keep in mind that for BC property transfer tax exemptions both YOU & THE PROPERTY need to meet the qualifications to get the exemption. There are also full and partial exemptions, depending on the price that you purchase for.
