Union Pacific Challenger 3995 was built by ALCO in 1943 to haul wartime traffic demands during World War Two. After the war ended in 1945, 3985 dominated the Union Pacific system from Los Angeles to Omaha. It was retired in 1957 and was officially retired in 1962. It sat at the Cheyenne roundhouse until January 1975 when it was moved to the Cheyenne passenger depot for static display. But 4 years later in 1979, 3985 was pulled out of display to run in excursion service. It was completed in 1981 and ran for 29 years until 2010. She is now being restored at the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America since 2022.
