Genesis, a mother of four, fled her home country with her children to seek asylum in the United States. Genesis’ son struggles with severe mental health issues stemming from the trauma of leaving his country. After Genesis’ son made allegations against her to the police, she was arrested and he was placed in the Children’s Center.
Genesis’ son soon went missing from the center and was found hiding in his school’s bathroom for an entire day. CFR advocated for Genesis in court, and the judge instructed ACS to return her son back into her care. Genesis’ son remains at home with his family and continues to receive professional support for his mental health.
Today, CFR’s immigration team is helping three of Genesis’ children obtain special immigrant juvenile status and is representing Genesis in her asylum case.
