The FinderMonkey Weekly - Week 4

Welcome to the FinderMonkey Weekly. Our weekly deep dive into the world of people tracing.

This week David Oates our Head Researcher has recorded a very special video for you.

We work for clients all around the world. Some are looking for relative and friends, most are looking for people in the UK some in Australia or Canada, now and then we are asked to search in countries as Libya and Paraguay (yes both of these searches were successful!).

Sometimes we are asked to search in the past and uncover some missing piece of family history or find out what happened to someone even though they passed away many years ago.

This week’s video talks about the TV series Who Do You Think You Are? It’s a great show and lets famous people uncover more about their family history, there is usually an interesting story in there that as viewers we are interested to see.

There are some strong reactions too, sometimes about people that the celebrity has never met but we have that tie to our families even when we have never met them. We do so much genealogy, it’s very useful to use genealogy techniques to find living people too so they are an important part of our craft.

In this video Dave also talks about why people choose to search. When is the right time and what to consider before you do search. I hope you find it useful.

Also, this week we’ve been looking to change a few of our processes within our trace department. Its crucial that we are constantly improving the service for you, for us and for the people we find. We like to Safeguard everyone too and assess risk to ensure the service is delivered to you in the fairest way but also with the best chance of a good outcome.
