To mark the 50th anniversary since the End of Southern Steam in the Summer of 1967, the Swanage Railway hosted their Spring Steam Gala with the theme of 'Strictly Bulleid', featuring the largest gathering of Bulleid Pacifics in preservation history.
The gathering saw 5 Bulleid light pacifics, of Original and Rebuilt design, working together for the first time since the end of steam on the Southern Region of British Railways' network, with services working regularly over the recently upgraded crossing at Norden Gates, and on the Wareham extension as far as the River Frome Bridge - the current limit of Swanage metals.
