Girl Math Is Back In The Worst Way

There’s a new Girl Math-esque trend going around TikTok where it’s essentially the “shopaholic wife” and the “financially wise husband.” Women act out gleeful incompetence around money lip-syncing lines like “Can I pay cash? I don’t want my husband to know…” while the guy is framed as the rational one who lectures his wife for overspending. It’s yet another trend that’s equating girlhood to shopping addictions and traffics in dangerous stereotypes that women are emotionally frivolous and childlike and men as inherently wise and mature.
