In 2001, Hanna and Meaza’s father Petros Solomon was imprisoned without a trial. He was one of the politicians who had written a public letter demanding change from the president, Isaias Afewerki. A few months later, their mother Aster Yohannes was arrested on the airport. She had come back from the United States, where she was studying, after being assured from the government that nothing would happend to her if she returned.
Until this day, Hanna, Meaza and their siblings have not seen their parents
