Here is the Bachmann 32-789, Co-Co Class 37 "Merl Evans" No.37099 Diesel-Electric Locomotive in the great looking Colas Rail Freight Livery. This is a really nicely detailed Model and named after Merl Evans, who during his Life, did so much for the Model Locomotive Portfolio of Palitoy and Bachmann. This model includes Full Directional Lighting together with Cab Lights and all 12 wheels are driven.
I wanted to install the Hornby Class 37 TTS Sound Decoder chip but for months was not available anywhere in the UK. Despite waiting for Retailers to receive new stock, it just didn't happen. In the end, I decided to throw caution to the wind, purchasing the LokSound v5 Class 37 Sound Decoder, which can be heard during this video. This expensive DCC Sound Decoder does offer benefits over the Hornby TTS Decoders but at 3x the price. That said the Engine Sounds are very realistic and the the inclusion of Automatic Braking sounds is a nice feature.
This Locomotive does not have a lot of internal space in which to install the LokSound v5 Decoder. Infact it was so tight, even using a space saving iPhone type speaker, some fettling of the Roof mounted fan system was required. With care you can retain the free spinning Fan inside the Locomotive roof, which is something worth keeping.
